Role Overview:

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for executing transactions to acquire the necessary products or services for ABEC under the most advantageous terms. This role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify needs and fostering effective relationships with suppliers to fulfill those needs in alignment with ABEC's interests. Additionally, the position is vital in streamlining the flow of goods from procurement through production to delivery. Key responsibilities include data analysis, inventory monitoring, identifying cost-saving measures, and collaborating with various departments to ensure seamless product or service delivery from suppliers to customers. Proficiency in statistical methods and software for establishing and tracking performance metrics, along with suggesting enhancements to improve overall supply chain efficiency, is essential. Strong analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to collaborate with cross-functional teams are critical for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Management, Manufacturing, and Service teams by ensuring timely procurement of mechanical and electrical components/services necessary for the production and post-sale support of ABEC equipment.
  • Engage with suppliers to secure the best combination of price, quality, and lead time for all purchases made by ABEC, including negotiating pricing, delivery, payment terms, and policies related to cancellations, returns, and warranties.
  • Build and maintain robust vendor relationships to guarantee required performance metrics such as on-time delivery, quality assurance, and competitive pricing are consistently met and improved.
  • Support the Quality Control/Receiving team in resolving discrepancies related to products or documentation that hinder the formal acceptance and use of purchased items. Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Design teams to address discrepancies involving system part numbers, item descriptions, and vendor documentation codes.
  • Provide timely updates to Project Managers regarding the status of procurement activities for their respective projects and participate in project team meetings to ensure accurate communication regarding project progress.
  • Assist Product Management and Sales teams in obtaining quotes for materials/services necessary for project proposal preparations.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Mechanical/Electrical Design teams to identify opportunities for product training sessions or similar technical information exchanges to enhance understanding of vendor offerings, new applications, and cost-saving strategies.
  • Identify inefficiencies within Supply Chain processes and propose enhancements for improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Revise and/or create new procedural documentation as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret data related to inventory, vendor performance, and overall supply chain effectiveness.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and enhance overall supply chain performance.
  • Evaluate and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain, such as disruptions in the flow of goods and services.
  • Utilize technology and software tools for data analysis, inventory tracking, and process optimization.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for improvement in supply chain processes while staying informed about industry trends and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other departmental employees and the Global Supply Chain Manager to identify and implement process improvement opportunities that enhance operational efficiency, resource utilization, and cost reduction.
  • Engage in additional tasks as assigned to support projects and meet customer expectations.
  • Adhere to all ABEC safety policies and regulations.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Actively participate in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in supply chain management or a related field, or equivalent experience with a minimum of three years in a procurement manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with an ERP system, preferably Syteline.
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated, organized, adaptable, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Results-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Aptitude for analyzing planning information.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Willingness and ability to learn in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement (CI) practices is advantageous.
  • Prior experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
