Position Overview:
The Leave of Absence Specialist is integral to the Human Resources team, focusing on the management and coordination of employee leave programs. This role requires collaboration with team members and department leaders to ensure that all leave requests are processed efficiently and in accordance with applicable laws and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the subject matter expert for leave of absence programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and others.
  • Oversee ADA and PWFA accommodations, ensuring consistent application of guidelines across the organization.
  • Provide comprehensive case management, coordinating the administrative aspects of leave cases and claims.
  • Manage medical information while adhering to HIPAA and privacy regulations.
  • Handle all leave claims, including eligibility assessment, tracking usage, and ensuring accurate pay and deductions.
  • Guide employees through the leave request process, clarifying eligibility and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain communication with employees regarding their leave status and coordinate return-to-work processes.
  • Collaborate with HR Directors and legal teams on complex leave cases.
  • Foster a team-oriented environment and maintain a positive attitude towards guests and colleagues.
  • Attend relevant meetings and training sessions to stay updated on hotel policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources, with at least 1 year focused on leave administration.
  • Proficient in HRIS and Time & Attendance systems.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with HIPAA, Disability, FMLA, ADA, USERRA, and PWFA regulations.
  • Knowledge of state and federal leave laws.
  • Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish/Creole) are a plus.
