As a key member of the Human Resources team, the Leave of Absence Specialist is essential in overseeing and managing team member leave programs. This role requires close collaboration with team members and department leaders to ensure that all leave requests are processed efficiently and in accordance with applicable laws and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary expert on leave of absence programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations (FMLA, ADA, etc.) and internal policies.
  • Manage ADA and PWFA accommodations, working alongside property HR teams to implement reasonable adjustments.
  • Provide comprehensive case management and coordinate the administrative elements of leave cases.
  • Ensure all medical information is organized and handled in compliance with HIPAA and privacy standards.
  • Oversee leave claims, including eligibility assessments, duration tracking, and accurate payroll deductions.
  • Guide team members through the leave request process, clarifying eligibility and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain communication with team members regarding medical documentation and facilitate their return to work.
  • Collaborate with HR Directors to review leave claims and maintain open lines of communication.
  • Work with management and legal teams to navigate complex leave cases and accommodations.
  • Exhibit teamwork and maintain a positive demeanor towards guests and colleagues.
  • Participate in hotel meetings and training sessions to stay informed about company policies and updates.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years in human resources, with at least 1 year focused on leave administration and ADA compliance.
  • Proficient in HRIS and Time & Attendance systems.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and interact effectively with all levels of staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with HIPAA, Disability, FMLA, ADA, USERRA, and PWFA regulations.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding leave and ADA.
  • Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish/Creole) are a plus.
