Position Overview:

The Trust Advisor at Old Point is a seasoned fiduciary expert who collaborates with Wealth Management and Banking professionals to provide exceptional guidance and service to individuals, families, and institutions.

This role encompasses fiduciary administration, strategic planning, relationship management, and the enhancement of a High Net Worth client portfolio.


Key Responsibilities:

Manage a portfolio of fiduciary and investment accounts in accordance with governing documents, including trusts, estates, court appointments, IRAs, and investment management accounts. Conduct thorough evaluations of account activities and administration.

Collaborate with Private Wealth Advisors, Portfolio Managers, and other banking professionals to convey the Firm's fiduciary principles and deliver tailored fiduciary advice and solutions that align with client objectives.

Offer fiduciary and financial planning insights in areas such as estate planning, wealth transfer, estate administration, and charitable giving.

Engage with clients to nurture relationships, provide strategic advice, identify challenges and new business prospects; respond to client inquiries; proactively reach out to clients; and create compelling fiduciary content for presentations and thought leadership initiatives.

Act as the fiduciary expert within client teams to foster business growth by strengthening existing relationships and acquiring new clients.

Ensure compliance with client-focused policies and procedures, including conducting annual administrative reviews, advising on client objectives, and maintaining updated wealth planning information for fiduciary relationships.

Identify clients at risk, proactively address issues, and meet with these clients as necessary to improve relationship retention.


Uphold a thorough understanding of operational controls, policies, procedures, and processes to ensure adherence to banking regulations and laws.

Perform additional duties as assigned that fall within the scope of this job classification.


Qualifications:

Comprehensive technical knowledge of estate, trust, and fiduciary administration, as well as wealth and estate planning strategies for affluent and high net worth clients.

Proficient in reviewing estate, trust, and legal documents to fulfill client objectives, manage fiduciary accounts, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Intermediate proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn job-specific software applications.

Strong business development acumen with a focus on cultivating long-term relationships and enhancing market value.

Excellent analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a collaborative work environment.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information in a persuasive manner.

Capacity to adapt to technological advancements and integrate them into current and future responsibilities.

Ability to embrace change and respond positively with minimal resistance.

Stay informed about legal and regulatory developments.

Ability to positively influence others and gain their support.

Proactive in anticipating and addressing the needs of clients, ensuring timely responses to inquiries and concerns.

A commitment to achieving excellence in all aspects of work.


Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Trust Administration, Law, or a related field.

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in trust administration and estate planning.

Proven experience in business development and relationship management is preferred.

Relevant certifications such as CTFA, CFP, AEP, JD, or CPA are advantageous.
