Position Overview:

The Trust Advisor at Old Point is a seasoned fiduciary expert who collaborates with Wealth Management and Banking professionals to provide exceptional guidance and service to individuals, families, and institutions.

This role encompasses fiduciary administration, strategic planning, relationship management, and the enhancement of a High Net Worth client portfolio.


Key Responsibilities:

Manages a portfolio of fiduciary and investment accounts in accordance with governing documents, including trusts, estates, court appointments, IRAs, and investment management accounts, while conducting thorough evaluations of account activities and administration.

Collaborates with Private Wealth Advisors, Portfolio Managers, and other bank professionals to articulate the Firm's fiduciary philosophy and deliver tailored fiduciary advice and solutions that align with client objectives.

Offers fiduciary and financial planning expertise in estate planning, wealth transfer, estate administration, and charitable giving, as well as risk management solutions.

Engages with clients to nurture relationships, provide insights and planning, identify challenges and new business prospects; responds to client inquiries, conducts proactive outreach, and develops fiduciary content for presentations and thought leadership initiatives.

Acts as the fiduciary authority within client teams to foster business growth by strengthening existing relationships and acquiring new clients.

Ensures compliance with client-focused policies and procedures, including annual administrative reviews, advising on client objectives, and maintaining updated wealth planning and client information for fiduciary relationships.

Identifies clients at risk, proactively addresses issues, and meets with these clients as necessary to improve relationship retention.


Accountable for understanding and adhering to operational controls, policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with banking regulations and laws.

Performs additional duties as assigned that fall within the scope of this job classification.


Qualifications:

A comprehensive understanding of estate, trust, and fiduciary administration, along with wealth and estate planning strategies tailored for affluent and high net worth clients.

Ability to analyze estate, trust, and legal documents to fulfill client objectives, manage fiduciary accounts, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Intermediate proficiency in MS Office and a willingness to learn job-specific software applications.

Exceptional business development skills with a focus on cultivating long-term relationships and expanding market presence.

Strong analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to thrive in a collaborative work environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information in a clear and persuasive manner.

Proficient in adapting to technological advancements and integrating them into current and future responsibilities.

Ability to embrace change and respond positively with minimal resistance.

Staying informed about legal and regulatory changes is essential.

Ability to positively influence others and gain their support.

Proactive in anticipating and addressing the needs of clients, both internal and external, ensuring timely responses to inquiries and concerns.

Driven to achieve a standard of excellence in all endeavors.


Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Trust Administration, Law, or a related field.

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in trust administration and estate planning.

Demonstrated success in business development and relationship management is preferred.

Relevant certifications such as CTFA, CFP, AEP, JD, or CPA are advantageous.
