Position Overview:

Flexport is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to fortify its reputation as the most reliable entity in the global trade sector. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing visibility across our organization, managing and deploying advanced security solutions, and developing integrations and automation to address security gaps, while embedding security measures within our enterprise framework.

Key Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with IT and security teams to design, implement, and uphold secure enterprise architectures that adhere to internal guidelines and industry best practices.
    • Administer and optimize endpoint security measures that facilitate protection, detection, response, and recovery (including anti-malware, EDR, forensics, and web/email security).
    • Establish monitoring systems that support continuous asset inventory and posture evaluation, thereby enhancing our configuration and vulnerability management initiatives.
    • Assess, refine, and uphold system hardening and secure configuration benchmarks for server and client endpoints, encompassing Linux, MacOS, and Windows environments.
    • Architect, deploy, and oversee network security mechanisms (firewalls, VPNs, 802.1x, proxies, wireless, zero trust) in collaboration with IT to ensure secure and scalable global network frameworks.
    • Enhance and maintain our existing security tools across EDR/SIEM/VPN/DLP/CSPM.
    • Develop security automation capabilities (e.g., SOAR) to enrich security data feeds, facilitate auto-remediation of critical security incidents, and implement various security playbooks.
    • Improve SIEM functionalities to consolidate visibility of all security technology outputs, enabling ongoing monitoring, incident detection, analysis, forensic artifact collection, containment, eradication, and recovery.
    • Engage in security support escalations, incident response, red team exercises, penetration testing, bug bounty initiatives, and audit assistance.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and newsletters to communicate effectively with management and teams throughout the organization.
    • Foster a culture of transparency, knowledge sharing, and collaboration through the creation of thorough documentation, mentoring of junior staff, and embodying Flexport's core values.
Qualifications:
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Over 6 years of security experience in a dynamic global setting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with SIEM and security orchestration technologies, including automating security tasks using languages such as Go, JavaScript, Python, or Ruby.
  • At least 3 years of experience with endpoint, web, and email protection technologies.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architectures and traditional network perimeter controls, including firewalls and VPNs.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration to drive internal security projects and incident resolution.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • A compliance-oriented mindset to ensure satisfaction among regulators in a heavily regulated industry.
