Compensation Details
$50.19 Hourly

Position Overview

We are seeking multiple Central Alarm Station (CAS) Operators to oversee and manage security systems and alarms. This role involves dispatching both routine and emergency assignments while collaborating effectively within a controlled environment. The position is part of the Protective Force Division (PFD) within the Security Organization (SO).

Note: This role requires full-time on-site presence due to its nature.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the integrity of alarm systems and computer networks; conduct system testing, identify issues, and initiate necessary repairs and security responses.
  • Implement and comprehend comprehensive security response protocols.
  • Communicate with system administrators and technicians regarding system issues; assist in troubleshooting and identifying solutions for complex problems.
  • Manage and monitor radio communications with security personnel during both routine and emergency situations, documenting all activities.
  • Prioritize and dispatch security and safety personnel in accordance with established protocols for both emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Operate and monitor surveillance systems, LLNL's security alarm system (Argus), and access control systems; utilize the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System.
  • Prepare and maintain various reports and records using a computer-aided dispatch system in line with established procedures.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of applicable Department of Energy (DOE) and LLNL security protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or an active Top Secret clearance from another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
  • Ability to successfully complete a foundational CAS training course to acquire the necessary skills for the role.
  • Experience in applying established organizational policies and procedures, with an understanding of DOE access requirements.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, particularly in high-pressure situations, demonstrating patience and tact.
  • Advanced organizational skills to effectively prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with colleagues in a confined setting during high-activity periods.
  • Proficiency with PCs, including Windows OS and Microsoft Office applications, along with familiarity with technology such as portable radios and tablets.
  • Knowledge of government access control regulations and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the Argus security system and LLNL's access control framework.
  • Current certification in the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System.

Security Clearance Requirement

This position necessitates an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or an active Top Secret clearance from another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
