Compensation
Hourly Rate: $50.19
Please note that this pay range serves as a general guideline. Various factors, including education and experience, influence starting salaries.
Position Summary
We are seeking multiple Central Alarm Station (CAS) Operators to oversee and manage security systems and alarms. The role involves dispatching both routine and emergency assignments while collaborating effectively in a controlled environment. This position is part of the Protective Force Division (PFD) within the Security Organization (SO).
Note: This role requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the integrity of alarm systems and computer operations; conduct system testing, identify irregularities, and initiate necessary repairs and security responses.
- Implement and comprehend comprehensive security response protocols.
- Communicate with system managers and technicians regarding system issues; engage in troubleshooting to resolve complex problems related to database maintenance.
- Operate and monitor radio communications with security personnel during both routine and emergency situations, documenting all activities.
- Prioritize and dispatch security and safety personnel in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Manage and monitor closed-circuit television systems, LLNL's security alarm system, and access control systems.
- Prepare various reports and records using a computer-aided dispatch system in line with established protocols.
- Maintain knowledge of and adhere to applicable Department of Energy (DOE) and LLNL security procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance from another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
- Ability to successfully complete a basic CAS training course to acquire the necessary skills for the role.
- Experience with organizational plans, policies, and procedures, along with an understanding of DOE access requirements.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse personnel during routine and emergency situations.
- Advanced organizational skills to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple assignments efficiently.
- Experience working collaboratively in a confined environment under high-pressure conditions.
- Proficiency with PCs, Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with various technology tools.
- Knowledge of government access control requirements and related policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Argus security system and LLNL's access control mechanisms.
- Current certification in the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System.

This is a Flexible Term appointment, lasting up to six years. Career Indefinite employees may maintain their status, subject to funding availability.

Security Clearance Requirement
This position mandates an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or an active Top Secret clearance from another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
