Position Overview: This role is essential in supporting the Training Resource Management Division (TRM) within the Foreign Affairs Security Training Center (FASTC) under the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) at the U.S. Department of State (DOS). The FASTC is dedicated to providing protection and security training for personnel involved in Diplomatic Security and the Foreign Affairs community, reinforcing U.S. national security interests abroad.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Development of Security Procedures: Collaborate with the Bureau Security Officer (BSO) to formulate and enforce security protocols within the division.
  2. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP): Create and regularly review SOPs for safeguarding information, equipment, and facilities.
  3. End-of-Day Protocols: Establish and oversee procedures for inspecting office spaces at the end of each business day to ensure compliance with security regulations.
  4. Escort Procedures: Design and implement a program for escorting un-cleared personnel in controlled areas, providing necessary training to FASTC staff.
  5. Security Briefings: Conduct comprehensive briefings for new employees regarding FASTC-wide security measures and expectations.
  6. Lock Management: Schedule and execute the changing of lock combinations for safes and doors, ensuring adherence to established procedures.
  7. Incident Management: Supervise the reporting of security breaches and assist the BSO in managing incidents as needed.
  8. Regulatory Knowledge: Maintain a thorough understanding of document classification and the handling of classified information.
  9. Coordination: Liaise with TRM management and FASTC supervisors to ascertain the necessary skills and knowledge for effective performance of USO duties.
  10. Administrative Support: Perform various administrative tasks to support TRM USO responsibilities.

Qualifications:

A combination of higher education and experience totaling at least ten (10) years in security-related roles is required. Candidates should possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. A strong ethical foundation and integrity are essential, along with the capability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Familiarity with Department of State regulations and procedures related to security is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also necessary.
