Job SummaryThe Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission is seeking a highly skilled Attorney IV to join its Legal Affairs Bureau. As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will work closely with POST staff and the Commission to enhance the professionalism of California law enforcement.
Key Responsibilities- Work with executive management on various matters involving POST operations
- Collaborate with POST's Professional Conduct Bureaus in investigation of police misconduct and the selection and preparation of cases for decertification
- Coordinate with the Office of the Attorney General regarding litigation involving POST
- Analyze court records to determine peace officer disqualification
- Appear before the Peace Officer Accountability Advisory Board and the POST Commission
- Respond to Public Records Act requests
- Handle internal personnel matters
- Analyze local agency compliance with POST regulations
- Determine legal requirements for law enforcement training
- Implement and interpret legislative mandates
- Draft proposed legislative language
- Active membership in the California State Bar and be a member in good standing
- Submit a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1, and within 30 days of leaving office

Special Requirements- The position requires a California State Bar Membership License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.
