DEPARTMENT: School of Nursing

WORK SCHEDULE: Days / Evenings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution recognized by the US Department of Education
  • Preferred: Two years of academic teaching and leadership experience

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all academic programs;
- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and Dean of Academics for program development, implementation, evaluation, and assessment;
- Conduct systematic reviews of programs to ensure quality, relevance, and compliance with regulatory standards;
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the President, Program Coordinator, or Dean of Academics;
- Participate in assigned committees;
- Report to the relevant program coordinator.

Personnel Responsibilities:
- Engage in faculty recruitment and make hiring recommendations;
- Arrange class coverage during absences;
- Foster positive relationships within the department and community;
- Maintain a minimum of three office hours weekly for student support;
- Ensure punctuality in class and clinical responsibilities;
- Exemplify professional behavior and standards;
- Act as a change agent promoting innovative educational practices;
- Engage in professional development to enhance effectiveness;
- Complete a minimum of 23 continuing education hours annually:
o For nursing:
 10 hours related to NLN Nurse Educator Core Competencies;
 5 hours related to course content;
 8 hours in other relevant areas.
- Recommend equipment and software purchases and maintenance contracts.

Administrative Duties:
- Participate in budget planning;
- Attend faculty meetings;
- Engage in accreditation reviews and reporting;
- Contribute to program development and policy revisions;
- Assist in student and faculty recruitment and orientation;
- Support student advisement and orientation.

Committee Responsibilities:
- Attend and participate in program committees;
- Serve on assigned program Advisory Committees;
- Engage in organization-wide committees as needed.

Advising:
- Act as an advisor for students;
- Provide guidance for academic and personal development;
- Develop remediation plans for students;
- Schedule regular meetings with at-risk students;
- Assist students in identifying resources for success.

Curriculum Development:
- Implement and manage syllabi for all courses;
- Suggest changes to syllabi and programs to the Curriculum Chair and Program Coordinator;
- Design and implement new curricula;
- Evaluate existing curricula to ensure alignment with institutional philosophy and community needs.

Instructional Responsibilities:
- Maintain classroom control;
- Develop course and clinical syllabi reflecting educational philosophy and objectives;
- Utilize diverse teaching methods to cater to various learning styles;
- Encourage active student participation through practical application;
- Demonstrate expertise in subject matter;
- Acknowledge diverse cultural backgrounds;
- Foster collaborative relationships with students;
- Provide or utilize materials that enhance learning and adhere to course syllabi;
- Model professional standards in practice;
- Supervise clinical students in collaboration with staff;
- Conduct pre and post conferences with students;
- Schedule make-up clinical sessions as necessary;
- Provide ongoing evaluations and feedback to students.

Evaluation:
- Assess student performance in both theoretical and clinical settings;
- Participate in peer evaluations when requested;
- Review student evaluation summaries and use feedback for course planning;
- Engage in program planning based on evaluation feedback.

Workload Expectations:
- Full-time faculty will have a teaching load of no more than 24 academic credits per academic year;
- Part-time faculty will have a maximum teaching load of 12 academic credits per academic year;
- Faculty are expected to maintain 2-4 office hours weekly and participate in faculty meetings and events.
- Additional professional responsibilities are essential for maintaining competence and institutional functioning.
- Other duties as assigned.

Community Engagement:
- Participate in program-specific advisory boards;
- Assist in promoting and disseminating program information.

Desired Qualifications:

Preferred: 2 years of teaching experience and Certified Nurse Educator certification.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.

Licensure Requirements:

Professional license relevant to the program of study (e.g., RN, RT, Surgical Tech) required. Non-clinical teaching does not require a license.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required for Nursing.

PAY RANGE:

$95,000 - $105,000.00
