Position Overview
The Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry is seeking to appoint tenure-track faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor, with a specialization in Cancer Epidemiology.
Key Highlights
- Engage in significant collaboration and research alongside both clinical and research faculty at the Wilmot Cancer Center.
- The Wilmot Cancer Institute serves as the primary cancer care provider in the region, catering to approximately 3 million individuals across a 27-county area in western and central New York.
- Wilmot is a central hub for over $30 million annually in cancer-related research and training funding, hosting one of only two NCI Community Oncology Research Program research bases within an academic medical center.
- The institute boasts an 87-bed flagship cancer center, 13 outpatient facilities, and one of the largest blood and marrow transplant programs in the state. It is also home to the region's inaugural cancer survivorship clinic and one of the nation's pioneering geriatric oncology clinics.
- Numerous opportunities exist for research, education, and community engagement through PHS, the Aging Institute, Environmental Health Sciences Center, Del Monte Neuroscience Institute, and the Center for Community Health & Prevention, among others.
- Successful candidates will be expected to attract and maintain extramural research funding, demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring, and expand research partnerships within the university and the broader community.
Qualifications
- A doctoral degree in Epidemiology (PhD, ScD, MD, or equivalent) or a closely related discipline with a strong focus on research design and statistical methodologies, particularly in the realm of cancer epidemiology.
- A minimum of two years of postdoctoral research experience, a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications, and a demonstrated capability to secure extramural funding.
- Experience or research interests in lung, pancreatic, breast, and colon cancer screening, as well as hepatocellular cancer and lymphoma, with a focus on health disparities in cancer care and outcomes, is preferred.
