Role Summary

The Director of Operations is tasked with the formulation and execution of comprehensive strategies for planning, manufacturing, and shipping. This leadership role will ensure that all plant departments align with key objectives related to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, the Director will play a crucial role in enhancing team capabilities across various shifts while meeting operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership:

  • Oversee and guide the planning, manufacturing, and shipping teams.
  • Establish an annual operational plan for the manufacturing and shipping departments.
  • Communicate objectives clearly to all teams on both a daily and long-term basis.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor departmental performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion safety, quality, and facility management initiatives, ensuring team alignment and targeted improvements.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance team to identify and resolve equipment issues promptly.
  • Provide insights for future business growth and operational changes.

Team Development:

  • Enhance frontline capabilities through skill development and cross-training initiatives.
  • Lead employee engagement discussions, fostering accountability and recognizing achievements.
  • Mentor emerging leaders, establishing clear performance and growth objectives.

Financial and Service Management:

  • Prioritize production effectively and oversee new product launches from an operational standpoint.
  • Monitor business performance trends, remaining agile to address issues that may impact customer service and financial targets.
  • Facilitate capacity and labor planning processes to ensure reliable production and shipping plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of experience in leading planning, manufacturing, and shipping teams to meet customer demands and achieve business objectives.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficient in ERP systems with a solid understanding of MRP processing logic.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
