Role Summary

The Director of Operations is pivotal in crafting and implementing the comprehensive strategy for planning, manufacturing, and shipping. This role is crucial in ensuring that all plant departments align with objectives focused on safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, the Director will also play a key role in enhancing team capabilities across multiple shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership:

  • Formulate the annual operational plan for the manufacturing and shipping divisions.
  • Effectively communicate daily and long-term objectives for planning, manufacturing, and shipping.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to enhance departmental performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion safety, quality, and facility stewardship initiatives, ensuring team alignment and improvement.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy and address raw material shortages through diligent reporting and cycle counts.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance team to identify and resolve equipment issues promptly.
  • Provide insights into future business growth and operational changes.

Team Development:

  • Enhance frontline capabilities through skill development and cross-training initiatives.
  • Lead employee relations efforts, fostering accountability and recognizing achievements.
  • Mentor emerging leaders, setting clear performance and growth objectives.

Financial and Service Management:

  • Prioritize production effectively and lead operational aspects of new product launches.
  • Monitor business performance trends, remaining agile to address customer service and financial challenges.
  • Facilitate reliable capacity and labor planning processes to meet or exceed production and shipping targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of experience in leading planning, manufacturing, and shipping teams.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficient in ERP systems with a solid understanding of MRP processing logic.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
