We are seeking a skilled Senior CAD Technician to contribute to a leading Geotechnical Engineering firm.

This position offers an opportunity to be part of a reputable organization with over a century of industry experience.

Your primary responsibilities will include working closely with engineers, draftsmen, and architects to convert client designs and blueprints into accurate computer-generated models using CAD software. You will play a crucial role in realizing client visions, whether working independently or as part of a collaborative team.

Job Overview:

Produce detailed drawings for architectural and structural components across various projects, including civil engineering tasks such as highways, bridges, and public infrastructure. Leverage your knowledge of building materials, engineering principles, and mathematical concepts to ensure precision in your renderings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to interpret and review blueprints and design plans.
  • Input design parameters into CAD software, creating surface and solid models that meet client specifications.
  • Utilize computer-assisted drafting systems (CAD) or traditional methods to generate drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Draft plans and detailed drawings for various structures, incorporating insights from sketches, engineering calculations, and technical documents.
  • Analyze building codes, spatial requirements, and technical reports to effectively inform architectural designs.
  • Create maps, diagrams, and profiles to accurately represent topographical features and structural elements.
  • Oversee field surveys and technical investigations to gather essential data for project modifications.
  • Compile measurements and data from job sites to inform architectural designs and material specifications.
  • Prepare cost estimates, contracts, and technical reports in collaboration with architects and engineers.
  • Act as a representative of the architect or engineer on construction sites, ensuring adherence to design specifications and providing guidance on necessary adjustments.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum of a two-year technical degree; a bachelor's degree in engineering or design is preferred.
  • Strong background in Drafting & Design, emphasizing applied science.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD software, with a focus on structural detailing.
  • Knowledge of support structures, excavation techniques, and wall bracing is advantageous.
  • Competency in AutoCAD functionalities such as file publishing, Xrefs, and layout viewports.
  • Familiarity with both Metric and English measurement systems, with expertise in 3D modeling.
  • Certification in Autodesk software and familiarity with Bentley MicroStation are beneficial.
  • Experience with Revit / BIM is a plus.
