The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) plays a crucial role in safeguarding public health and the environment by managing the city's water supply and wastewater systems. With a workforce of nearly 6,000, DEP is the largest municipal water and wastewater utility in the United States, overseeing extensive projects that ensure the delivery of high-quality drinking water and effective wastewater management.

Role Responsibilities

The selected candidate will join the In-House Design (IHD) Directorate, specifically within the BIM/CAD section. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining engineering models and documentation for various municipal projects, including water supply facilities and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Utilizing advanced software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Civil3D to create detailed engineering drawings.
  • Conducting field investigations and employing 3D laser scanning technology to capture existing conditions.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the accuracy and quality of design models.
  • Assisting in the review and oversight of designs produced by external engineering firms.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent, along with two years of relevant experience as an engineering technician, or an Associate degree in engineering technology.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD, with knowledge of additional software such as Civil3D and Navisworks being advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while adhering to project deadlines.
