Role Overview:

We seek a motivated and insightful professional to join our Business Development team as a Senior Vice President. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead our business development initiatives, significantly influencing the company's trajectory. You will be responsible for executing licensing agreements and other strategic transactions related to our technology and product offerings, while conducting thorough analyses and fostering collaboration across teams.

You will adeptly manage projects from conception to implementation, thriving in a dynamic environment. Your leadership will be essential, as you cultivate collaborative relationships within a matrixed organization, critically assess relevant information, and provide insights to evaluate business opportunities. You will oversee deal pipelines, develop financial models, and coordinate due diligence processes, always motivated by long-term impact.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership to develop comprehensive business development strategies that align with Pairwise's vision. Provide insights into market positioning and identify potential partners and licensees.
  • Opportunity Identification: Source and evaluate potential business opportunities through in-depth analysis of market strategies, financials, and requirements. Work closely with internal teams to prioritize initiatives that maximize value.
  • Transaction Management: Lead and oversee the entire deal process from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with business unit leaders, finance, legal, and subject matter experts. Drive negotiations and manage contractual agreements to achieve strategic and financial objectives.
  • Industry Networking: Build and maintain strong relationships within the technology-driven agriculture and food sectors. Stay informed about emerging market trends and partnership opportunities that align with Pairwise's strategic goals.
  • Market Research: Conduct thorough research on competitive intelligence, leveraging educational resources, professional publications, and industry networks. Continuously monitor industry trends and benchmark Pairwise's performance against competitors.
  • Representation: Represent Pairwise at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to enhance visibility and establish thought leadership. Network effectively to promote Pairwise's mission and identify collaboration opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 15 years of experience in business development or a related field. Experience in private equity, investment banking, or strategy consulting with a focus on financial analysis and M&A is also considered.
  • Proven Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading deal teams and managing full-cycle deal processes within the agriculture or biotechnology sectors.
  • Business Development Expertise: 5-7 years of progressive experience in leading business development functions, ideally within a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong ability to manage complex negotiations and deal processes from inception to closure. Experience in financial modeling, due diligence, and post-deal integration is essential.
  • Collaborative Approach: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset in a matrixed organization. Ability to influence and build consensus among diverse stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Strong negotiation skills and creative problem-solving abilities are required.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, up to approximately 50% of the time.
