About Project Kuiper:
Project Kuiper is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at deploying a network of Low Earth Orbit satellites designed to deliver high-speed, low-latency broadband connectivity to underserved communities globally.

Role Overview:
Are you eager to contribute to the development of software for an innovative satellite broadband service? The Security team is responsible for ensuring the operational security of the entire satellite constellation.

We provide the essential infrastructure for secure communications and robust authentication, safeguarding our customers' confidentiality and the integrity of our constellation.

The Kuiper Security team leads the research, development, deployment, and management of critical security systems for the Kuiper constellation.

This position offers a unique opportunity to foster a security-centric culture within a dynamic, start-up-like environment.

Key Responsibilities:
The Technical Program Manager for Project Kuiper's Security Operations team will spearhead the development and management of systems that support proactive and operational security measures.

  • Establish and oversee programs aimed at preventing unauthorized access to Kuiper's assets and resources.
  • Identify and mitigate potential threats while translating customer requirements into technical specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with global regulatory and legal standards, while actively preventing malicious activities.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise across various domains, including hardware, front-end user interfaces, back-end systems, and everything in between. A solid background in software design and implementation, along with a strong understanding of data networking and modern operating systems, is essential.

Key Job Duties:

  • Develop controls and mechanisms to enhance the adoption and continuous improvement of security capabilities throughout Kuiper's technology and infrastructure.
  • Promote and advocate for practices that reduce the costs associated with building secure systems.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and internal security teams to define functional and technical security requirements.
  • Influence security practices through operational excellence with Kuiper's business and engineering teams.
  • Drive project execution and maintain alignment by establishing a structured program management approach and engaging with engineers and leadership.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in technical product or program management.
  • 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management with software engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing cross-functional programs and building sustainable processes.
  • Experience driving roadmap strategy and definition.
  • Experience leading technical programs involving infrastructure and complex systems.
  • 5+ years of project management experience, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path management.
  • Experience defining KPIs/SLAs for multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership.
