About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Certification Engineer to join our team at Supernal. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strong certification processes and procedures to support our Civil Certification Project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain certification plans, compliance checklists, and inspection plans to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to the team and cross-disciplinary research and development teams working on the development and certification of our autonomous, passenger-carrying eVTOL aircraft.
  • Lead certification projects, provide technical direction, and problem-solve to assist the technical team.
  • Ensure Hyundai UAM Engineering projects align with regulations by preparing compliance checklists, certification plans, inspection plans, and FAA forms, as applicable.
  • Assist in creating processes and procedures for the Certification group to streamline their duties.
  • Train and guide junior certification engineers in all aspects of Civil Certification.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance is integral to the development process.
  • Promote awareness of the certification process and requirements to the broader Engineering team.
  • Participate in product design reviews and provide meaningful design mentorship related to the product's test and certification plan.
  • Represent the department in meetings with program management, senior leaders, staff, and internal and external government representatives.
  • Up to 10% of domestic and international travel.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical, Mechanical, Systems, Industrial Engineering, or other related fields required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in systems design, development, safety analysis, integration, and certification (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
  • Experience in 14 CFR Part 23 requirements.
  • Experience in requirements management.
  • Experience with FAA personnel and designers.
  • Proficiency in FAA Type Certification, Supplemental Type Certification, and Production Certificate processes.
  • Familiarity with ARP4754A and ARP4761 safety processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow-up.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints.
  • Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on type certification of an aircraft from start to finish under any of 14 CFR Part 23/25/27/33/35/36 or other relevant regulations preferred.
  • Experience with foreign validation of FAA Type Certificate preferred.
  • Experience with electric propulsion air or ground vehicles preferred.
  • Experience with 14 CFR 33 & 35 preferred.
  • Experience with DO-254, DO-178, & DO-160 preferred.
  • Experience with the FAA TSO process preferred.

Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.

The pay range for this position is: $180,100—$218,300 USD
