Senior Vice President of Civil Engineering Projects.

Be a key player in our
Transportation Design Division, focusing on local agency roadway and civil engineering initiatives in the Southern California region. As a project manager, you will have the opportunity to influence the future of transportation in this area.

Your Contributions

Lead business development initiatives and proposal presentations for local agency roadway and intersection projects, as well as site civil projects.

Attract new clientele, ensure client satisfaction, and cultivate robust market relationships.

Oversee project management, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and profitability for assigned projects. This includes supervising the preparation of projects for preliminary engineering, environmental assessments, plans, specifications, estimates, and providing design support during construction.

Prepare, manage, and review project deliverables such as planning documents, design and construction specifications, project reports, environmental studies, cost estimates, scopes of work, and proposals, ensuring compliance with quality standards, professional benchmarks, client expectations, and corporate goals.

Facilitate coordination with various design disciplines and remote office locations, including Planning, Environmental, Roadway, Structures, Hydraulics/Drainage, Transit, Aviation, and Traffic.

There is potential for advancement into a leadership role within the Irvine Civil Engineering team, which would involve managing staff workloads, projections, and key performance metrics, as well as assisting in the recruitment of additional personnel as necessary.

Provide leadership, direction, and performance guidance to ensure all team members are well-supported and have opportunities for professional growth.

Exhibit creativity, foresight, and sound engineering judgment while successfully managing multiple projects and task assignments, drawing on extensive experience in design quality control programs.

Stay updated on the latest civil engineering techniques and practices.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 12+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering, civil, and infrastructure design.
  • California Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in civil engineering principles, practices, processes, and standards related to permitting and project work.
  • Proven success in leading teams and delivering various types of infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Southern California market.
  • Experience in business development or pursuit.
  • Ability to work independently while providing guidance and leadership to mid-level and senior project team members, with strict adherence to quality assurance and quality control.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Strong adaptability to change and flexibility in schedules to meet business needs.
  • Occasional travel may be required based on project-specific needs.
Preferred:
  • Experience in local agency roadway and intersection planning and design.
  • Strong background in managing the review and approval of documents and discipline-specific deliverables in a multi-project environment.
  • Demonstrated success in securing business with local agency public works and other municipal clients.

Compensation:
Expected Salary Range: $146,700 - $281,600

WSP USA provides this compensation range based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with internal equity and geographic location considerations. WSP reserves the right to adjust compensation based on various factors not related to an applicant's protected status.
