The Senior Program Manager role is crucial for the effective oversight and execution of initiatives within the International Center for Genetic Disease (iCGD) at Mass General Brigham.

The Senior Program Manager will collaborate closely with various departments at Mass General Brigham, affiliated institutions, faculty, staff, and international stakeholders.

This role encompasses the planning and execution of diverse projects aimed at enhancing genomic medicine worldwide through strategic partnerships with governmental bodies, academic entities, and industry leaders.

As a pivotal research center, iCGD is dedicated to studying patients and healthy individuals globally to explore the origins, implications, prevention, and treatment of genetic disorders.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong cultural awareness and adaptability to navigate the diverse environments encountered in this position.

Proficiency in project management—including scope definition, execution, monitoring, and deliverable control—is essential. A comprehensive understanding of operational frameworks within research or clinical settings is also required.

The successful candidate will exhibit outstanding organizational and leadership skills, along with a passion for working alongside a dedicated team of scientists and administrative experts.

This position manages a substantial budget, necessitating a solid understanding of relevant policies and regulations. Attributes such as initiative, independent judgment, discretion, and professionalism are vital for success in this role.

This position will oversee the execution of research, educational, and clinical programs aimed at building sustainable capabilities in genomic medicine and research, ultimately contributing to enhanced public health outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide managerial, logistical, and administrative leadership.
  • Manage projects on behalf of the Director and senior leadership.
  • Develop and oversee standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Supervise the iCGD website and manage cloud accounts and repositories.
  • Assess staffing requirements, collaborate with HR, and participate in recruitment processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and IRB protocols.
  • Mentor staff in achieving departmental and institutional competencies, training, and certifications.
  • Facilitate communication and problem-solving forums through regular team meetings.
  • Act as a liaison between financial management and research teams regarding project statuses and funding.
  • Manage course and lecture series aimed at training healthcare professionals in genetic and genomic matters.
  • Address technical issues promptly as they arise.
  • Organize meetings with collaborators and visiting delegations.
  • Oversee the schedule of the iCGD's director or manage the assistant responsible for this task.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience. Familiarity with sequencing technologies is advantageous.
  • At least 3 years of experience in project management.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Experience in budget oversight.
  • Familiarity with the IRB and grant application processes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Knowledge of cloud environments is beneficial.
