Job Opportunity: Direct Support Shelter Advocate

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Direct Support Shelter Advocate. In this role, you will provide essential support and services to homeless families, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with residents, providing assistance as needed.
  • Conduct regular shelter rounds to ensure the safety and security of residents.
  • Assist with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup during your shift.
  • Respond to crisis situations, utilizing good judgment and effective communication skills.
  • Complete assigned tasks and maintain a clean and organized shelter environment.
  • Monitor bedrooms, bathrooms, and dayrooms to prevent accidents and ensure resident safety.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings and required trainings to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with homeless individuals and/or families, disabilities, or other at-risk populations.
  • Ability to work independently and handle crisis situations with confidence and effective communication.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Physical ability to ascend/descend stairs, move equipment, and remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
