About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Counselor to join our team at The City of Providence. As a Residential Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing supervision and support to women and children in an emergency shelter setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for residents, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of house rules and policies, enforcing them as necessary to ensure a smooth and respectful living environment.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to address the unique needs and challenges of each resident.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless communication and coordination of services.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in residential counseling and crisis intervention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in residential settings or with vulnerable populations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
