Job Objective

Collaborate with the leadership team of the Manufacturing Equipment Services Department to identify persistent or critical equipment and process downtime issues. Lead efforts to analyze priority issues, conducting root cause investigations and developing countermeasures to prevent recurrence. Facilitate knowledge sharing within the Equipment Reliability Support team for comprehensive reflection. Provide technical support aimed at enhancing the standardization of production systems across the region. Offer emergency technical assistance for complex problem-solving as necessary. Support Manufacturing Characteristics and Standards and Equipment Production associates by delivering insights on equipment-related challenges stemming from specifications, design, and installation. Coordinate with Equipment Production associates to manage the assembly and installation of countermeasure initiatives. Based on results from equipment performance assessments, identify issues and propose potential solutions to enhance reliability in specifications, design, and installation processes. Drive improvement initiatives within the Equipment Reliability Support team for regional enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying root causes of chronic downtime and recommend specialized countermeasures. Communicate findings to Equipment Reliability Support leadership for regional dissemination.
  • Evaluate current manufacturing characteristics and compile results to assess achievement against equipment or process-related targets. Collaborate with leadership to pinpoint areas requiring focused efforts.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of reliability for new equipment specifications based on existing challenges.
  • Participate in North American Regional Equipment Reliability Support meetings and document outcomes for senior management to facilitate improvements in manufacturing characteristics.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly and monthly performance reports to track progress and implement continuous improvement processes.
  • Conduct gap analyses on Key Performance Indicators and develop corresponding countermeasure activities.
  • Assist with the introduction of new technologies as required.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Required Experience:

  • 2-8 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, with a focus on specific automotive categories such as welding, assembly, paint, stamping, or plastics preferred.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (with a concentration in Manufacturing preferred) or equivalent experience.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of automated equipment electrical hardware/software design, including machine safety controls, servo position control, field I/O networking, PLC, and HMI.
  • Application of engineering and manufacturing principles.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills for effective communication with customers and internal teams.
  • Understanding of automotive manufacturing processes (e.g., assembly, paint, welding, stamping).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic 2D and 3D CAD tools.
  • Business acumen in a technical environment.
  • Project leadership capabilities.
