Job Overview

The role of the Mechanical and Project Engineer involves the development and execution of operational plans for project completion. This includes monitoring project progress, addressing operational challenges, and ensuring the effective use of resources. A solid understanding of mechanical systems is essential, along with the ability to create schedules, budgets, and forecasts. Key equipment includes HVAC systems, boilers, controllers, lift station equipment, pumps, air compressors, and dryers. The position may also require involvement in projects outside the traditional mechanical engineering scope.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain mechanical systems within facilities, focusing on design, coordination, and preventive maintenance.

• Support the operation of mechanical systems, including centrifugal fans, burners, and chillers, while managing documentation for these systems.

• Review and update electrical and mechanical drawings throughout the project lifecycle.

• Ensure mechanical systems meet customer capacity and reliability standards.

• Develop and oversee project schedules, scopes, budgets, and workflows for plant-wide initiatives.

• Implement innovative engineering strategies to replace aging equipment and systems.

• Create detailed scope documents based on project requirements and manage the contractor selection process for facility projects.

• Train facility associates on operational enhancements related to mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring accessible reference materials are available.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 0-6 years of relevant experience in mechanical or facility-related projects.

• Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical systems from concept to implementation, including troubleshooting and repair.

• Proficient communication and presentation skills, with a focus on building productive relationships.

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD is essential.

• Ability to manage multiple projects, comprehend technical drawings, and execute special projects effectively.

• Familiarity with control systems architecture and programming is a plus.

• Willingness to travel for departmental reviews and planning events.
