Job Summary

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Legal Advice: Offer expert legal guidance and support to the Bureau Chief and other senior officials on a wide range of matters, including statutory authority, policy directives, and administrative review.
  • Interpret Legal Ramifications: Assist in interpreting the legal implications of proposals, policy directives, and other actions planned or undertaken by the department, bureau, or County Board.
  • Freedom of Information Act: Serve as the Freedom of Information Officer or advise on matters related to the Freedom of Information Act, as needed.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with the President's General Counsel and State's Attorneys Office to evaluate litigation, respond to document requests, and prepare for matters related to administrative review.
  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to provide informed and expert advice to senior officials.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development of departmental policies and procedures, including the interpretation and enforcement of departmental ordinances and policies.
  • Special Projects: Handle special projects of a confidential nature, as required.
Requirements:
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree.
  • Experience: Three (3) years or greater professional work experience as an attorney dealing with matters of civil law, government, or corporate transactions.
  • Licensure: Licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois.
