Automation Systems Engineer

A leading industrial automation company, Automationtechies, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their team.
With over 40 years of experience in machine building and automation integration, Automationtechies partners with top manufacturers to deliver innovative solutions for material handling, conveyance, and industrial automation.
As a Mechanical Engineer at Automationtechies, you will be responsible for:
- Designing and developing mechanical systems using SolidWorks, including molded, welded, etched, stamped, machined, and extruded components.
- Conducting design reviews and participating in specifications and manuals to ensure feasibility and adherence to project timelines.
- Collaborating with the reliability engineering group to design verification and validation testing of new designs.
- Identifying automation concepts that address current customer needs in conjunction with sales and management.
- Developing solutions to products requiring revision and process updates through Engineering Change Notices.
- Mentoring and assisting associate mechanical engineers and technical staff in engineering principles and procedures for product design, development, fabrication, and testing.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards (OSHA, RIA, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, NEC, ISO ; EN).
Requirements:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in high-precision mechanical design and advanced experience in bringing designs to production using design for manufacturing techniques, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), and other quality control techniques.
- Proficient in 3D SolidWorks modeling, drawing generation, and CAD database management.
Work Environment:
- Most work is performed in an office and shop environment.
- Regular trips to client facilities and/or manufacturing plants may be required based on project responsibilities.
- Travel up to 30% will be required.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays to support client needs during projects.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move between standing and sitting.
- The employee frequently needs to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, including pushing and pulling; and communicate verbally and audibly to ensure safety procedures are followed.
- The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
