We invite you to join our dynamic team, where you will take charge of the Controls Engineering Department, overseeing the controls segment of various projects, which include PLC, HMI, and robotic automation designs. You will be responsible for developing and implementing procedures and standards that facilitate timely deliveries, enhance quality, and adhere to budget constraints.

  • Achieve and maintain expertise in system design and execution of machine controls while exploring new robotic opportunities that serve our clients best.
  • Conduct pFMEAs (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and Risk Assessments as required.
  • Lead and support equipment start-up and commissioning, working closely with suppliers and contractors to meet automation objectives.
  • Develop simulation and testing programs for automation systems to showcase the advantages of newly developed capabilities.
  • Test, maintain, and adjust existing automation systems as necessary.
  • Program various industrial robots and collaborative robots, including Fanuc, Kuka, Yaskawa, among others.
  • Program Rockwell PLCs and HMIs, while possessing a working knowledge of other platforms such as Siemens, Automation Direct, Schneider, Mitsubishi, and Omron.
  • Program motion systems utilizing AC Drives and Servo Drives.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams (mechanical engineers, purchasing, management, etc.) to design and provide new and replacement automation equipment.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing Practices and Procedures in new project initiatives.
  • Train maintenance personnel, engineers, and operators on new processes and procedures for automated equipment.
  • Create instructional and training documentation for customer systems.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to ensure timely project completion within budgetary limits, demonstrating effective leadership skills.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards (OSHA, RIA, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, NEC, ISO; EN).
  • Mentor and support junior controls engineers and technical staff in automation methodologies and programming.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an associate's degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, with at least three years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in leading projects and developing new automation solutions for machines and processes, with the ability to provide detailed documentation upon project completion.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC logic and practical experience in programming PLCs, particularly Rockwell (Allen Bradley) and Siemens. Familiarity with HMI or SCADA programming is advantageous.
  • Experience in reading and modifying PI&D (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) drawings.
  • Proficient in using computers and Microsoft Word, Excel, and other MS Office applications.

Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily conducted in an office and shop environment.
  • Occasional visits to client facilities and/or manufacturing plants may be necessary based on project responsibilities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% is required, along with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays to support client needs during projects, including project meetings, installations, commissioning, shutdowns, and/or scheduled maintenance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to transition between standing and sitting.
  • Frequent walking, using hands to manipulate objects, reaching with hands and arms, and effective verbal communication are essential for ensuring safety procedures are followed.
  • Must be able to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds frequently and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
