Your goal will be to enhance the profitability of purchasing operations. You will strive to secure optimal short- and long-term contracts, manage life-cycle costs, lead times, and service levels in vendor relationships. You will also recommend the best sourcing strategies for product families and individual stock-keeping units (SKUs).

  • Lead the identification, qualification, and approval of vendors, and review key performance metrics.
  • Assist in the contract review and request for quotation (RFQ) processes as necessary, and review and approve purchase orders and invoices.
  • Implement a system to identify, maintain, track, and present key performance indicators.
  • Ensure that buyers maintain and communicate an accurate receiving schedule to warehouse staff.
  • Prepare and present reports to management, including periodic reports on performance metrics.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and process improvements for both personal responsibilities and departmental functions.
  • Create exception reporting tools and work to resolve discrepancies within the department, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Develop and manage training programs for buyers, ensuring effective coverage during absences and fostering employee growth.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards regarding purchase orders, vendor qualifications, and departmental documentation.
  • Maintain a proficient skill set as a buyer, stepping in to support product portfolios as needed.
  • Assist in ensuring transaction accuracy and year-end inventory activities.
  • Support the creation, editing, approval, and dissemination of receiving instructions as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with ERP software, preferably Epicor.
  • Three to five years of experience in production control and inventory management, ideally in a manufacturing setting.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive approach to work.
  • Preferred experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing a budget of $110MM or more is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) is an advantage.
