As part of our Construction Practice, you will oversee the daily operations of intricate industrial construction projects for clients in the Food, Beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods, and Life Sciences sectors. Collaborating with Regional Safety Managers, Directors, Project Managers, subcontractors, and vendors, you will ensure that projects adhere to timelines and budget constraints. The Superintendent will supervise subcontractor activities, conduct inspections, and enforce compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

The Construction Site Supervisor is accountable for managing all aspects of a construction site, from initial planning through to project completion. You will ensure that all subcontractor performance aligns with project timelines and budgetary requirements.

Promote and uphold the company's safety protocols, fostering a culture of safety among all employees and subcontractors.

Project Management:
  • Take full responsibility for project execution, ensuring safe, high-quality, timely, and cost-effective delivery with minimal oversight.
  • Serve as the primary job-site supervisor for the Design Group.
  • Provide expertise in construction principles, including concrete forming and placement, process piping, crane operations, structural steel erection, cladding installation, roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, interior finishes, and manufacturing equipment installation.
  • Understand materials, tools, and equipment used in industrial construction, as well as relevant safety codes and regulations.
  • Interpret construction plans and ensure real-time updates are communicated to subcontractors.
  • Efficiently navigate new construction management software.
  • Manage the inspection process from progress assessments to obtaining Certificates of Occupancy.
Pre-Construction Responsibilities:
  • Develop site logistics plans detailing trailer locations, material storage, access points, safety requirements, and temporary utilities.
  • Oversee material management and verification.
  • Provide technical guidance during the Pre-Construction phase, reviewing plans, specifications, and schedules, while advising project managers on potential issues.
  • Comprehend customer contracts, project estimates, and budget setups.
  • Understand subcontractor and supplier contract scopes.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project schedules, including procurement timelines.
  • Establish punch-list processes and close-out procedures in coordination with the off-site Project Manager.
  • Coordinate scheduling and procurement of necessary tools and equipment.
Construction Responsibilities:
  • Lead by fostering effective relationships with clients, team members, and subcontractors.
  • Manage daily field activities to meet safety, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Ensure all inspections are conducted as required.
  • Direct workloads and responsibilities effectively.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure timely project completion.
  • Maintain daily documentation, including reports and schedule updates.
  • Identify construction conflicts and communicate them to the off-site Project Manager.
  • Ensure the most current contract documents are utilized to minimize rework.
  • Conduct subcontractor start-up meetings and lead coordination discussions.
  • Participate in regular update meetings with off-site management.
  • Communicate project goals and objectives to all field personnel.
  • Track material deliveries and subcontractor schedules.
  • Ensure quality control measures are in place.
  • Document subcontractor and supplier performance.
  • Review material and equipment installations against approved submittals.
  • Maintain progress documentation through photographs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations at the job site.
  • Lead safety meetings and maintain job site signage.
  • Monitor and address safety hazards promptly.
  • Log weekly safety inspections.
  • Assist with change request reviews.
  • Maintain a daily log of job site activities.
  • Address deficiencies as they arise.
  • Keep the job site organized and clean.
Post-Construction Responsibilities:
  • Complete punch lists and secure customer sign-offs.
  • Finalize as-built drawings.
  • Document and update close-out reports.
Communication:
  • Exhibit professionalism and build positive relationships with local communities.
  • Establish strong working relationships with client leadership, local personnel, inspectors, and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with Project Safety Managers, Quality Control, and design teams.
  • Utilize negotiation and conflict resolution skills to enforce contracts and achieve successful outcomes.
  • Conduct all business ethically to enhance customer relations and organizational success.
Scheduling:
  • Work with the off-site Project Manager to outline project timelines and adjust schedules as necessary.
  • Review construction schedules to ensure milestones are met and address any delays.
  • Plan and schedule project activities regularly.
  • Develop and maintain a four-week look-ahead schedule alongside project timelines.
Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) guidelines and local regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site throughout the construction process.
Travel Requirements:
  • Travel to various construction sites, which may involve temporary living arrangements.
  • Work shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of ten years of experience as a construction site supervisor on industrial projects.
  • Recent experience managing construction projects in industrial facilities.
  • Proven track record of successfully completing projects valued between $500K and $20M.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, Bluebeam, and CAD.
  • Experience in active manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification is required.
  • Willingness to travel for project-related activities.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • The estimated salary range for this position is $110K-$130K, based on qualifications and location.
