Position Summary:
The Senior Solutions Designer plays a pivotal role in the Logistic Systems Division, engaging directly with clients to craft and implement technical design solutions. This high-impact position necessitates collaboration with Solutions Architects to create and refine logistics systems that enhance operational efficiency, visibility, and scalability. The role also involves working closely with external partners and global teams to assess business needs, analyze existing workflows, and devise innovative solutions that optimize logistics operations and foster business expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive logistics solutions, including conveyor systems, sortation systems, goods-to-person solutions, and warehouse control systems (WCS/WES).
  • Create material and process flows that align with customer specifications and optimize system capabilities.
  • Assess various technologies, software, and hardware solutions to determine the most effective options based on functional requirements, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Design solutions by thoroughly evaluating data, customer needs, and available technology options from both internal and external sources.
  • Examine logistics workflows to identify inefficiencies and propose enhancements and automation opportunities to boost operational efficiency and reduce expenses.
  • Calculate throughput, performance metrics, and functionalities of proposed solutions, ensuring alignment with customer objectives.
  • Identify potential risks associated with proposed solutions and recommend strategies for mitigation.
  • Produce detailed documentation, user manuals, and training materials for logistics systems, offering training and support to stakeholders as required.
  • Assist engineering teams with functional design and specifications.
  • Generate cost assessments based on the technical design of subsystems and integrated systems in collaboration with the Sales Manager.
  • Collaborate with Sales Managers and Marketing to promote our solutions to clients through calls, visits, and marketing materials.
  • Engage in the transition process from sales to operations, ensuring the accurate design parameters for proposed solutions.
  • Coordinate integration and overall design efforts between BEUMER and external suppliers, as well as with other BEUMER divisions.
  • Prepare documentation and presentations for customer RFPs that effectively showcase the advantages of the proposed BEUMER solutions, along with developing white papers on solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, Robotics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Principal Solutions Designer or in a comparable position, focusing on logistics systems and supply chain solutions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of logistics technologies and systems, including WCS, TMS, RFID, barcode scanning, EDI, and IoT devices.
  • Expertise in system design and data analysis.
  • Strong grasp of logistics processes, supply chain management principles, and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with cross-functional teams and conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Project management experience, with the capability to lead projects from inception to completion.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or similar are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools and the ability to develop specifications based on customer requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD and Visio.
