Position Overview

Purpose of the Role:

The Senior Solutions Designer plays a pivotal role in our Logistic Systems Division, engaging directly with clients to craft and implement technical design solutions that meet their needs. This position is integral to enhancing the efficiency, visibility, and scalability of logistics systems. The role requires collaboration with Solutions Architects and external stakeholders to gather business requirements, analyze existing workflows, and devise innovative solutions that optimize logistics operations and support business expansion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design comprehensive logistics solutions, including conveyor and sortation systems, goods-to-person solutions, and warehouse control systems (WCS/WES).
  • Develop material and process flows that align with customer specifications and enhance system capabilities.
  • Assess various technologies, software, and hardware solutions to determine the most effective options based on functional needs, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Create solutions after a thorough analysis of data, customer requirements, and available technology options.
  • Examine logistics workflows to identify inefficiencies and propose optimizations and automation opportunities.
  • Calculate throughput and performance metrics of proposed solutions, ensuring alignment with customer objectives.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with proposed solutions and recommend strategies for mitigation.
  • Produce detailed documentation, user manuals, and training materials for logistics systems, providing necessary training and support to stakeholders.
  • Assist engineering teams with functional design and specifications.
  • Generate cost estimates based on technical designs for subsystems and integrated systems in collaboration with the Sales Manager.
  • Collaborate with LS Sales Managers and Marketing to promote our solutions to clients through various channels.
  • Facilitate the transition from sales to operations, ensuring accurate design parameters for proposed solutions.
  • Coordinate the integration and overall design efforts between BEUMER and external suppliers, as well as with other BEUMER divisions.
  • Prepare documentation and presentations for customer RFPs that effectively showcase the benefits of the proposed BEUMER solutions.
Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, Robotics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Principal Solutions Designer or in a comparable position, focusing on logistics systems and supply chain solutions.
  • Extensive knowledge of logistics technologies and systems, including WCS, TMS, RFID, barcode scanning, EDI, and IoT devices.
  • Proficient in system design and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of logistics processes, supply chain management principles, and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with cross-functional teams and conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Project management experience, capable of leading projects from inception to completion.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or similar are advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Office tools: PowerPoint, Excel, Access, etc.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools and the ability to develop specifications based on customer requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD and Visio.
