The Senior Solutions Designer plays a pivotal role within the Logistic Systems Division, engaging directly with clients to craft and implement technical solutions tailored to their needs. This position is crucial for collaborating with Solutions Architects to design and refine logistics systems that enhance operational efficiency, visibility, and scalability. The role also involves working closely with external partners and global teams to gather business requirements, analyze existing workflows, and devise innovative solutions that optimize logistics operations and foster business growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop comprehensive logistics solutions, incorporating conveyor systems, sortation systems, goods-to-person solutions, and warehouse control systems (WCS/WES).
- Create material and process flows to maximize system capabilities aligned with customer specifications.
- Assess various technologies, software, and hardware solutions to determine the most effective options based on functional needs, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Design solutions by thoroughly analyzing data, customer objectives, and available technology options.
- Examine logistics workflows to identify inefficiencies and propose enhancements and automation opportunities.
- Calculate throughput and performance metrics of proposed solutions, ensuring alignment with customer goals.
- Identify potential risks associated with proposed solutions and recommend strategies for mitigation.
- Produce detailed documentation, user manuals, and training materials for logistics systems, offering support and training to stakeholders as required.
- Assist engineering teams with functional design specifications.
- Generate cost estimates based on technical designs for subsystems and integrated systems in collaboration with the Sales Manager.
- Collaborate with Sales Managers and Marketing to promote our solutions to clients through various channels.
- Facilitate the transition from sales to operations, ensuring accurate design parameters for proposed solutions.
- Coordinate integration and overall design efforts between BEUMER and external suppliers, as well as with other BEUMER entities.
- Prepare documentation and presentations for customer RFPs that effectively communicate the advantages of the proposed BEUMER solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, Robotics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience as a Principal Solutions Designer or in a comparable position, focusing on logistics systems and supply chain solutions.
- Extensive knowledge of logistics technologies and systems, including WCS, TMS, RFID, barcode scanning, EDI, and IoT devices.
- Expertise in system design and data analysis.
- Strong grasp of logistics processes, supply chain management principles, and industry best practices.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a talent for translating business needs into technical solutions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Project management experience, with a proven ability to lead projects from inception to completion.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are advantageous.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
- Familiarity with simulation tools and the ability to develop specifications based on customer requirements.
- Basic knowledge of CAD and Visio.
