POSITION SUMMARY

The Credit Evaluation Specialist plays a crucial role in the credit assessment process by collecting and scrutinizing financial information, creating financial analyses, and evaluating the risks linked to loan applications from both new and existing clients. This role involves close collaboration with Loan Officers across various bank branches and is performed with a high degree of independence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assisting in the credit evaluation process by assessing financial and related data to establish the creditworthiness of prospective clients and the validity of their loan requests. Collaborating with loan officers to provide necessary support to clients.
  2. Monitoring the credit status of current clients and their loans. Gathering, analyzing, and reviewing data through direct assessments of the applicant's business and/or collateral, examination of financial documents, personal discussions, and other methods. Adhering to departmental protocols to report and manage problematic accounts.
  3. Preparing materials and contributing to the development of loan presentations for the Loan Committee. Sharing insights regarding credit files as a participant in the Loan Committee (non-voting member) when required.
  4. Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the bank's lending policies and being able to advise, mentor, and train staff as necessary. Familiarity with all pertinent state, federal, and banking regulations is essential.
  5. Demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Excel and loan analysis software to create models, both mathematical and statistical, that aid in risk assessment.
  6. Conducting reviews of appraisals and internal real estate assessments as required. Obtaining environmental evaluations and analyzing the outcomes.
  7. Performing inspections of collateral as requested. Generating and maintaining credit-related reports as necessary.
  8. Keeping track of the credit file exception list and assisting in resolving exceptions across all branches.
  9. Overseeing purchased and sold participations to ensure compliance with documentation requirements as stipulated in loan and participation agreements.
  10. Supporting all lenders in managing and monitoring agricultural and commercial loan accounts within established lending policy guidelines.
  11. Executing other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, or accounting is preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a credit analyst is preferred.
