POSITION SUMMARY

The Credit Risk Specialist plays a vital role in the credit evaluation process by collecting and assessing financial information, creating financial models, and evaluating the risks associated with loan applications from both new and existing clients. This position collaborates closely with Loan Officers across various locations and operates with a degree of independence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  1. Support the credit evaluation process by analyzing financial data to assess the creditworthiness of prospective clients and the validity of their loan requests. Collaborate with loan officers to provide necessary assistance to clients.
  2. Evaluate the credit status of current clients and their loans. Gather, analyze, and review data through direct assessments of the client's business and/or collateral, examination of financial documents, personal interviews, and other methods. Adhere to departmental protocols for reporting and managing problematic accounts.
  3. Prepare materials and assist in drafting loan presentations for the Loan Committee. When required, share insights regarding credit files as a participant in the Loan Committee (non-voting member).
  4. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the bank's lending policies and provide guidance, advice, and training to staff as necessary. Stay informed about all pertinent state, federal, and banking regulations.
  5. Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and loan analysis software to create models, both mathematical and statistical, that aid in risk assessment.
  6. Conduct reviews of appraisals and internal real estate assessments as needed. Obtain environmental evaluations and analyze the outcomes.
  7. Perform inspections of collateral as requested. Generate and maintain credit-related reports as necessary.
  8. Manage and oversee the credit file exception list. Assist in resolving exceptions across all offices.
  9. Monitor purchased and sold participations for necessary interim documentation as stipulated in loan and participation agreements.
  10. Assist all lenders in managing and monitoring agricultural and commercial loan accounts within established lending policy guidelines.
  11. Execute additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, business, or accounting is preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a credit analyst is preferred.
