Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Biller II to join our team at Ideal Option PLLC. As a Medical Biller II, you will play a critical role in assisting in the revenue cycle functions within the billing department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Submit medical claims to insurance companies and payers such as Medicare and Medicaid
  • Work directly with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to get claims processed and paid
  • Review and appeal unpaid and denied claims
  • Process patient and insurance refund requests in a timely manner and post payments and/or denials from insurance remits
  • Assist patients in getting correct information to apply for charity/Medicaid or a payment plan
  • Use coded data to produce and submit claims to insurance companies
  • Maintain knowledge of current billing rules and trends for billing types assigned by attending seminars, workshops, and watching webinars
  • Assist patients in verifying benefit information and assist in patient scheduling and account creation
  • Ensure weekly, monthly, and quarterly department goals are met
  • eCW and multiple payer portals
  • Obtain referrals and pre-authorizations as required for procedures
  • Check eligibility and benefits verification for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures
  • Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information
  • Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing
  • Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
  • Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
  • Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
  • Identify any billing secondary or tertiary insurances
  • Set up patient payment plans and work collection accounts
  • Update billing software with rate changes
  • Update cash spreadsheets and running collection reports
  • Must comply with all elements within HIPAA and the Privacy Act
Requirements
  • A minimum of two years' experience with medical billing
  • A minimum of one year's experience working claim denials
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and Internet
  • A knowledge of chemical dependency and its effects on individuals, families, and communities is preferred
