ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Facilities Manager plays a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of our facilities. This position involves leading the organization in planning, overseeing, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining NLSLA's properties and equipment. Responsibilities include managing the upkeep, enhancements, and operational efficiency of all building systems across NLSLA's various locations. As a key member of the leadership team, the Facilities Manager collaborates with organizational leaders on significant projects, formulates plans for ongoing improvement, and continuously evaluates and addresses current facility maintenance and challenges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic vision and oversight to create the best possible physical work environment for all NLSLA employees.
  • Manage building operations, including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing, and waste management systems.
  • Develop and monitor the annual facilities management budget and budgets for special projects.
  • Ensure cost-effectiveness in all facility-related activities and procurements; research and estimate costs for projects, including labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Utilize technology to maintain facilities at the forefront of excellence and innovation.
  • Implement a comprehensive facility management program, including preventative maintenance and lifecycle requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Oversee inspections and maintenance of equipment and facilities, including roofing, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Perform direct maintenance and repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and reorder as needed.
  • Draft proposals for building projects, including renovations and new equipment installations.
  • Create and maintain a cloud-based recordkeeping system for facility usage, maintenance schedules, and compliance documentation.
  • Supervise and evaluate the facilities team, which may include external contractors and temporary laborers.
  • Lead the Safety Committee to ensure adherence to safety standards across all facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Certification in Facilities Management (CFM) or Certified Facility Manager (FMP).
  • A minimum of 7 years of full-time experience in facilities maintenance.
  • A General Building Contractor License.
  • Experience in vendor management.
  • Experience supervising administrative professionals.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Leadership experience with a visionary approach to facility development and management.
  • Mechanical skills and knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and other systems.
  • Familiarity with general maintenance processes, including painting, carpentry, and repairs.
  • Ability to diagnose issues and plan necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • EPA HVAC Certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities that respect cultural differences.
  • Physical capability to travel to and inspect facilities, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience with Cal OSHA safety programs.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The salary range for this position is competitive and includes a comprehensive benefits package, which features:

  • A 35-hour workweek.
  • 15 paid holidays annually.
  • 2 to 5 weeks of vacation per year based on seniority.
