Position Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our People and Culture department. This role is essential in ensuring the precise and timely execution of payroll functions and management of employee data utilizing Paylocity. The Payroll Specialist will serve as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries, necessitating exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify semi-monthly timesheet entries for accuracy in coding and facilitate payroll processing.
- Maintain knowledge of laws and regulations impacting payroll practices, particularly California-specific compliance.
- Update payroll records for changes in employee deductions and establish new employee profiles in the payroll system.
- Generate reports as required for various stakeholders.
- Assist People and Culture partners with inquiries regarding payroll regulations, processes, and specific employee matters.
- Provide payroll metrics on a quarterly basis to relevant departments.
Essential Qualifications
- 2-4 years of payroll experience in a nonprofit or human resources environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling multiple filing and categorization tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals.
- Proficient customer service skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general PC skills.
- Commitment to upholding and promoting the mission of Janus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience in the field of chemical dependency treatment or medical settings is preferred.
- Formal training in California payroll compliance and regulations.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary for this position ranges from $32.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on job-related skills, training, qualifications, experience, and relevant education. In addition to competitive pay, employees have access to comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, 12 paid holidays, retirement benefits, no-cost mental health counseling services, and 12 paid sick days annually.
