Current Opportunity:

We are seeking a Polymer Chemistry Information Specialist to join our Content Operations team.

Role Overview:

The Polymer Chemistry Information Specialist employs scientific knowledge, analytical capabilities, and problem-solving skills to enhance CAS's premier collection of chemical information. Utilizing their academic background and specialized training, they curate high-quality research data from patents across 64 patent offices, numerous journals, technical reports, books, conference proceedings, and dissertations published in 180 countries and over 50 languages. The role may also involve providing scientific insights and content expertise to support other CAS functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, gather, and curate essential chemical structure data from patent or journal publications, applying CAS indexing standards and their expertise.
  • Utilize technical knowledge and relevant language skills to extract critical insights and contribute to the CAS Content Collection.
  • Familiarity with structural descriptions and naming conventions of chemical substances is advantageous.
Qualifications:
  • A master's degree in polymer or organic chemistry with a focus on polymer synthesis or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience is acceptable.
  • Proficiency in reading scientific documents in Japanese and/or Korean is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Strong scientific reading comprehension and writing abilities.
  • Capacity to assimilate policies, work practices, insights, and tool usage from trainers to enhance quality and productivity.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
