Position Overview

Duke University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Pediatric Respiratory Care Practitioner to support our commitment to exceptional patient care. Located in Durham, North Carolina, our facility is recognized as a leading hospital in the nation, providing comprehensive services for neonatal and pediatric patients.

Role Responsibilities
  • Administer respiratory therapies and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions for neonatal and pediatric populations.
  • Monitor patient responses to therapies and adjust treatments as necessary.
  • Educate patients and families about respiratory care practices and procedures.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Ensure the safety and functionality of all respiratory care equipment.

Qualifications

Education
  • Completion of an accredited respiratory care program.
Licensure and Certification
  • North Carolina State Licensure or Provisional License.
  • Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Experience
  • Experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level positions.

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical capability to perform essential job functions, including lifting and transporting equipment.
