Position Details
Duke University Hospital is seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Care Practitioner to uphold our mission of Advancing Health Together. The Pediatric Respiratory Care team at Duke Children's Hospital provides specialized care for a variety of pediatric conditions, including those requiring intensive care.
Job Responsibilities
The Pediatric Respiratory Care Practitioner will:
- Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as outlined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of practice.
- Administer oxygen and aerosolized medications using various techniques.
- Perform airway management, including suctioning and CPR.
- Carry out diagnostic cardiopulmonary procedures and monitor patient vitals.
- Ensure the safety and functionality of all necessary equipment for patient care.
- Educate patients, families, and healthcare team members on respiratory care.
- Fulfill additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
- Completion of an AMA-approved respiratory care program.
- Clinical experience preferred for advanced roles.
- North Carolina State Licensure or Provisional License.
- Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications may be necessary.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to make informed clinical decisions based on patient age and condition.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Physical capability to perform job functions, including lifting and emergency response.
