What Defines a Successful Risk Specialist?

Are you a curious and analytical individual who thrives in collaborative environments? In this role, you will be part of a team that promotes initiative and ownership of tasks. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Utilizing an analytical mindset to independently evaluate asset and liability management within banking institutions, focusing on liquidity, interest rate, and investment securities risks, while also assessing general financial and operational risk management practices.
  • Comprehending and evaluating how banks structure their balance sheets, manage derivative contracts, and implement liquidity risk management strategies to ensure safe and sound operations.
  • Employing strong communication skills to facilitate discussions with executive leaders at financial institutions, identifying and articulating the root causes of potential issues, and producing clear, concise reports.
  • Leveraging interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and achieve consensus across diverse audiences.
  • Providing mentorship to banking executives and coaching team members to enhance overall performance.
  • Contributing to the development of colleagues by sharing knowledge and offering constructive feedback in alignment with the KC Fed's commitment to employee growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the banking sector related to asset and liability management.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel 20-30% of the time.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Active or inactive examiner commission from a federal or state banking regulatory agency.
  • Graduate or advanced degree in business, management, accounting, finance, economics, or management information systems.
  • Certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM).

Locations:

  • Hybrid work model with a 50% on-site requirement.
  • Not eligible for remote work.

Salary:

Starting Salary Range: $92,400 - $174,200. Final offers will be based on qualifications, internal alignment, district assignment, and geographic location.
