Department Insight:
The Surveillance and Risk Analysis (SRA) Department plays a crucial role in supporting senior management and supervisory functions by delivering comprehensive analyses of banking conditions, monitoring emerging risks, and assisting with examinations and inspections.
This department presents a rewarding opportunity for individuals with a keen interest in community banking risk, banking policy, and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze banking industry performance and emerging policy issues, preparing concise written summaries and presentations for management.
- Lead or contribute to the department's quantitative initiatives by developing and maintaining tools and reports for monitoring banking institutions.
- Utilize knowledge of current financial trends and risks to create impactful presentations and speaking notes for external engagements.
- Support or participate in select bank examinations and inspections as needed.
- Engage with Federal Reserve System groups to review regulatory and industry matters.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of six years of relevant experience or four years of experience as a bank examiner is typically required.
- A bachelor's degree in economics, business, or finance is essential.
- Ideal candidates will demonstrate initiative and agility in analyzing complex subjects and possess a strong desire to find innovative solutions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience in conveying messages to large audiences or executive management.
- Ability to influence, collaborate, and build relationships effectively.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and the banking sector.
- Proficient analytical skills, capable of interpreting complex financial concepts and assessing the impact of financial shocks or regulatory changes.
- Familiarity with MS Excel (particularly macros/visual basics), Tableau, and SQL is preferred; experience with R and/or Python is a plus.
- Professional certifications such as CFA, PRM, FRM, CPA, or CIA are advantageous but not mandatory.
Additional Information:
- This position requires a hybrid work model with a specified on-site presence.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
