Job Title: Assistant Director, Financial Capability and Resident Business Development

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as Assistant Director, Financial Capability and Resident Business Development in the Office of Resident Economic Empowerment & Sustainability (REES). This role will play a critical part in developing and implementing programs, policies, and collaborations to support residents' economic opportunities, with a focus on financial literacy, asset building, and business development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage partnerships with government agencies, financial institutions, and community-based organizations to maximize resource efficiency and increase access to services for residents.
  • Develop and implement data-driven strategies to assist residents in increasing their assets and earnings over time, including credit establishment, asset growth, savings, debt reduction, and business development.
  • Oversee the existing portfolio of REES resident business development initiatives, including the Business Pathways series, market access, and business growth opportunities for NYCHA entrepreneurs.
  • Attract philanthropy to support and grow resident business development initiatives.
  • Ensure NYCHA policies align with resident business development and growth efforts, leading campaign efforts to increase resident awareness of related policies.
Requirements:
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, plus four years of experience in providing employment-related services or economic support services to persons in need, with at least 18 months in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Or, a four-year high school diploma or its equivalent and eight years of experience equivalent to the above, with at least 18 months in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
