Job Overview

We are actively seeking qualified, responsible, and self-motivated individuals for the position of Junior Roadway Engineer at Aztec Engineering Group. This role is ideal for candidates eager to enhance their professional skills and contribute to the growth and success of our engineering team.

Position Summary

The selected candidate will support senior engineering staff in the development and completion of designs and contract documentation for a variety of roadway projects. Responsibilities include designing municipal and state infrastructure for streets, highways, and freeways, focusing on roadway, drainage, utilities, and traffic engineering. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of design processes and plan production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project engineers on the detailed design of both urban and rural roadway initiatives.
  • Manage alignment and profile, geometrics, plan development, special provisions, and construction cost estimates.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of technical reports, specifications, and calculations.
  • Coordinate with utility companies to ensure clearance prior to the submission of final design documents.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Certification: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate or the ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
  • Experience: Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Skills in planning, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making are necessary.
  • Familiarity with Project Wise, OpenRoads, and Civil 3D is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of roadway design guidelines and codes is preferred.
  • Experience in design calculations, quantity take-offs, cost estimation, and project plan preparation is desired.
  • A valid Driver's License is required, with the ability to maintain insurability under company policies.
