Overview:

The Logistics Support Specialist will manage various support functions for the training facility, which may encompass fleet oversight, mail services, courier operations, Diplomatic Pouch handling, asset management, and facility maintenance tracking.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates fleet oversight, including vehicle readiness, service scheduling, dispatching, and lifecycle monitoring, along with other related duties as needed.
  • Maintains tracking systems and electronic records for fleet operations, shipping and receiving, asset management, and other necessary systems.
  • Operates U.S. Government vehicles, including vans accommodating up to 16 passengers, as required by assigned duties.
  • Provides logistical assistance by executing tasks related to common carrier shipping and receiving, including unpacking, storing, assembling, tracking, and distributing supplies, equipment, and official parcels, such as Diplomatic Pouch and USPS mail.
  • Inspects incoming and outgoing goods, keeps inventory/logistics records, and organizes storage space, delivering items to the Receiving Office as necessary.
  • Tracks and documents all inventory movements in compliance with U.S. government regulations.
  • Monitors supply depletion rates, notifying the Program Manager when restocking or maintenance is needed, and follows up to ensure timely receipt of items.
  • Keeps storage areas orderly and well-maintained.
  • Assists with stockroom operations, including managing office and general supplies.
  • Monitors procurement processes for clarity, compliance with mandatory sourcing, accountability, and tracking to ensure purchase invoices are processed and property is allocated to programs.
  • Addresses any discrepancies in received property for individual orders.
  • Picks up and delivers official correspondence and special delivery items.
  • Escorts un-cleared maintenance or delivery personnel when necessary.
  • Assists in managing records, including property records and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Applies relevant Department of State security protocols to safeguard National Security information.
  • Provides additional support for training programs as required.
  • This position requires supervision and offers limited opportunities for independent judgment and initiative.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Education and Experience:
  • A high school diploma is required; an Associate's Degree is preferred, along with three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • A valid driver's license is required, with the ability to operate official U.S. Government vehicles, including 16-passenger vans.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and/or other general office software.
  • Familiarity with military, law enforcement, or Government security operations is preferred.
  • Understanding of fleet operations is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of supply chain and logistics management, including record-keeping and inventory status reporting, is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of work quality and professional development.
  • Ability to grasp Department of State rules, regulations, and procedures related to acquisitions and logistics.

Security Clearance:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
Physical Demands:

Must be capable of meeting physical requirements, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting medium to heavy objects.

Travel:

Travel may be required to other training and support sites as necessary; travel is not anticipated to exceed 25% of total work time.
