Position Overview: The HVAC Project Manager is tasked with overseeing the planning, direction, coordination, and financial management of construction or maintenance projects. This role involves participating in the initial development of projects and supervising their organization, scheduling, and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Superintendents, Foremen, Journeymen, and other Project Managers to strategize, organize, and direct project activities.
  • Set project goals, policies, procedures, and performance standards in alignment with company guidelines and contract specifications. Engage with supervisors and union representatives to address work procedures, complaints, and issues.
  • Represent the company in project meetings and participate in strategic discussions.
  • Oversee the procurement of supplies and materials necessary for project completion.
  • Interpret and clarify plans and contract terms for administrative staff, workers, and clients.
  • Generate reports detailing work progress, costs, and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with engineers to create shop drawings based on architectural designs.
  • Maintain communication with customers and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure project budgets are adhered to and that products meet customer specifications.
  • Work alongside the Superintendent and other departments to secure necessary tools, materials, and equipment for project completion.
  • Partner with the Superintendent and Safety personnel to formulate project-specific safety plans.
  • Communicate the company's core safety values and project-specific safety requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Develop project timelines in conjunction with the Superintendent, ensuring compliance with customer deadlines and milestones; implement tracking mechanisms to monitor schedule progress and provide regular updates.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to identify schedule variances and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provide forecasts to clients and engage in budget meetings as necessary.
  • Create project budgets based on estimates and proposals, including detailed breakdowns by task and tracking units.
  • Generate reports on project costs and billing.
  • Prepare and distribute completed RFPs for subcontractors.
  • Evaluate subcontractor proposals for completeness and scope coverage.
  • Supply the Contract Administrator with necessary information to finalize subcontract agreements, including scope of work, pricing, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Work with the Superintendent to review and approve subcontractor schedules.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with clients and discuss potential future projects.
  • Negotiate and authorize changes to subcontract scopes in accordance with customer contract requirements.
  • Conduct unit breakdowns and complete take-offs.
  • Manage divisional Work in Progress (WIP) statistics and report on these metrics during monthly financial meetings.
  • Perform accurate project estimates.
  • Notify office staff when bonds, permits, or certifications are required for a project.
  • Develop and distribute subcontractor RFPs based on the defined scope of work and create a bid schedule.
  • Compile RFP deliverables for a comprehensive bid package, including safety, execution, quality, and environmental plans as required by the client.
  • Participate in departmental meetings as requested.
  • Complete additional assignments as needed while fostering a collaborative team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of project management or related experience is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards governing design and operational requirements is essential.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Capacity to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
