Position Overview: The HVAC Project Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the planning, direction, coordination, and financial management of construction or maintenance projects. This position involves participating in the initial development of projects and ensuring their successful organization, scheduling, and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Superintendents, Foremen, Journeymen, and other project personnel to effectively plan and direct project activities.
  • Establish project goals, policies, procedures, and performance standards in alignment with company policies and contractual obligations.
  • Represent the company in project and strategy meetings.
  • Oversee the procurement of materials and supplies necessary for project completion.
  • Interpret and clarify plans and contract terms for staff, workers, and clients.
  • Generate reports on work progress, costs, and scheduling.
  • Work alongside engineers to create shop drawings based on architectural designs.
  • Maintain communication with customers and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure projects adhere to established budgets and meet customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent and other departments to acquire necessary tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Develop project-specific safety plans in collaboration with Safety personnel.
  • Communicate safety requirements and objectives effectively.
  • Create and update project schedules in partnership with the Superintendent, ensuring compliance with customer deadlines.
  • Identify schedule variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide project forecasts and participate in budget meetings as required.
  • Develop project budgets based on estimates, including detailed breakdowns by task.
  • Track project costs and billing through regular reporting.
  • Prepare and distribute RFPs for subcontractors.
  • Review subcontractor proposals for completeness and scope.
  • Assist the Contract Administrator in finalizing subcontract agreements.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to approve subcontractor schedules.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with customers regarding potential future projects.
  • Negotiate subcontract scope changes in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Conduct accurate estimates and manage divisional Work in Progress (WIP) statistics.
  • Notify office staff when bonds, permits, or certifications are needed.
  • Develop comprehensive bid packages, including safety and execution plans.
  • Participate in departmental meetings as necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned while fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of project management or related experience is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards governing design and operational requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities is essential.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
