Job Overview

The HVAC Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for managing the Quality Assurance Program for HVAC mechanics, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and established procedures. This role involves the development, administration, and daily operations of the quality assurance program, requiring comprehensive training in areas such as instructional development, product quality oversight, inspection methodologies, and data management and analysis.

Work Schedule: Flexible Part-Time or Full-Time, typically 2-3 days per week (Monday - Friday, between 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Compensation: $44.57 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain quality management plans and documentation to ensure HVAC projects are executed safely, within budget, on schedule, and in compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Oversee the Quality Assurance Program throughout the contract lifecycle for HVAC-specific work orders.
  • Engage in the development, administration, and daily operations of the Quality Assurance Program, including training in instructional methods, product quality monitoring, inspection techniques, and data management.
  • Authorize the procurement of safety supplies and equipment for projects and oversee site safety training for employees and subcontractors.
  • Document daily field activities at project sites, prepare material submittal sheets, shop drawing submissions, and quality control reports.
  • Establish and uphold quality standards for services provided.
  • Recommend adjustments and improvements to preventive maintenance processes.
  • Advise HVAC mechanics on efficient work practices and ticket completion.
  • Conduct inspections and tests on maintained services and equipment.
  • Perform random inspections to evaluate service quality.
  • Complete weekly and monthly quality checks on preventive and reactive maintenance work related to HVAC systems.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of assigned maintenance work tickets.
  • Manage quality management plans and documentation to ensure project completion aligns with budget, schedule, scope, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with logistics and administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Support the development of integrated logistics support.
  • Ensure the site team comprehends the operations and maintenance contract scope.
  • Participate in required stakeholder meetings and training programs, reinforcing requirements within the team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, ISO Standards, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience with commercial HVAC systems.
  • Experience with CMMS systems.
  • Background in operations and maintenance within commercial buildings.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and project leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated project estimating skills with a track record of completing projects on time and within budget.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, business management, statistics, or a related field.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification.
  • USACE Quality Control Manager certification.
  • HVAC journeyman license in Virginia.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands required for this position include:
  • Wearing and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
  • Mobility across job sites, including walking, climbing, and moving between locations.
  • Visual acuity for equipment operations, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Exposure to computer screens and monitors.
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, squat, and climb for extended periods.
  • Performing repetitive movements with limbs in the course of work.
  • Working at heights and in various weather conditions.
  • Remaining composed during emergencies and responding appropriately.
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 50 lbs.
  • Working at heights up to 30 feet.
Work Environment:
Employees in this role may encounter moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, electrical hazards, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment typically ranges from moderate to occasionally loud.
