Daily Responsibilities:

The Molecular Biologist - Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for executing specific quality assurance and quality control tasks related to casework, ensuring adherence to national and international standards as well as internal policies.

Key Duties:
  • Gather, maintain, and document various quality assurance and quality control metrics, including calibration, proficiency assessments, and external evaluations.
  • Draft written responses to findings from internal and external quality assurance audits.
  • Propose necessary modifications based on audit results to rectify identified issues.
  • Inform team members of policy updates stemming from audit findings.
  • Conduct performance evaluations on analytical equipment and ensure proper maintenance.
  • Coordinate with quality assurance personnel and external service providers.
  • Support the management and distribution of external proficiency assessments.
  • Contribute to the formulation of new guidelines and quality assurance protocols.
  • Input data into quality management systems.
  • Assist in the evaluation and verification of laboratory reagents and chemicals, performing necessary calculations to meet quality assurance standards.
  • Prepare procurement requests and liaise with purchasing staff to support QA and QC activities.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related Biological Science field.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of laboratory experience in biological sciences is preferred, with a focus on forensic DNA analysis.
  • Skills: Proficient understanding of related scientific disciplines such as biochemistry, chemistry, physics, molecular biology, genetics, and mathematics. Familiarity with quality control practices to effectively assess scientific data from DNA evaluations. Competence in utilizing computer systems for data manipulation and basic statistical analysis.
Work Schedule: Standard Day Shift

Security Clearance: US DoD/DOJ Interim Top Secret or Top Secret (US citizenship required)
